| Saffronart, one
of the largest sources of Indian Contemporary Art internationally,
is presenting, in association with Apparao Galleries, Chennai, an

of offer. The show will feature artists like M.F. Husain, Arpita Singh,
S. H. Raza and other masters of Indian contemporary art, as well as
upcoming and promising talent from the sub-continent. The sale will
include approximately 160 paintings by 24 artists, presented thematically
and representing the artists¹ observations depicting the challenge
of transition that a modern, technologically changing, independent
India, faces.
This exhibition and sale will be held at [seven-degrees] in Laguna Beach,
California, from September 8-22, 2001. A preview cocktail evening will
be hosted on September 8th, where invited guests can preview the works,
meet artists, interact with other art enthusiasts and have questions
answered by the Saffronart team who will be present at the event.
This Southern California area sale is the fourth event in a series that
Saffronart has developed in order to provide access to Indian contemporary
art internationally. Saffronart created the first ever on-line auction
of Indian contemporary art in November 2000, followed by a show in Hong
Kong in March 2001, which presented an overview of Indian contemporary
paintings. This was followed by and equally successful and critically
acclaimed show in New York this May which featured 130 paintings by
12 of the artists who led the modernist movement in India.
Saffronart¹s co-founders, Minal and Dinesh Vazirani, sum up the
aim behind Saffronart as: "Our goal is to document and highlight
what has served as the foundation of 20th century art from India
and what has emerged as Contemporary Indian Art today. We seek to
give this form of expression a platform that allows works of Indian
art to be accessed internationally and viewed as a representation
of what has given India its unique identity on the world map." Do
not miss this fantastic opportunity offered exclusively at [seven-degrees].
